Why it's important to document your family during the holiday season & why you should!

This is always the time of the year when everyone starts thinking about the holidays! Then, the to do list begins… Often times you forget about the yearly Christmas card or maybe you want to start doing one! Well I’m here to tell you why it’s important to document your family & also, why it’s the best season to do it!

Why it’s important to have your family documented?

To start off, being able to have all the faces a part of your family photographed is a special thing. This is how you’ll reminisce in years to come & look back on our current present. It’s not a trick, but hiring a photographer for family photos can make the process a little more smooth sailing. As a photographer that enjoys taking family photos, I want to capture those formal photos, because those are important. However, allow the kids to have fun, act a little silly, make the goofy faces, & don’t put pressure on being perfect! All I want is for y’all to feel comfortable in front of my camera, because that’s how I capture the most authentic version of yourself & your family.

Is the holiday season really the best time of year?

In my opinion as a lifestyle photographer, Yes this is the best time!

Most lifestyle photographers will allow time in their schedules to do mini sessions during the Holiday season. A Mini Sessions is typically taken place at 1 location on a specific day & time, & the session time is shorter. Mini Sessions can be less expensive than the photographer’s typical full session rate. Mini Sessions are great thing, especially if you’re worried the kids won’t be able to hold up for longer than 15-25 minutes. Plus, if you hire a photographer you don’t have to worry about the set up, posing, & editing of photos!

Why you should have your family photographed!

Well, if you’re thinking about having a proper family session done, then start looking & find someone who will work, & then have it done how you want! Ask around & find a photographer that will be able to capture your family. It’s a special memory that not only you will remember, but your kids will too!

Plus, your family photos can even be presents for yourself or others in your life!

Meg's Summer Morning Bridal Session at The Lumen Room in Panther Island, Fort Worth, Texas.

I adore this entire bridal session that happened with Meg! One of the things I love about photography is that you are able to create a vision/make a client’s vision come to life. This is how I felt when photographing Meg, let me set the scene for you. It was an adventure of a morning as I traveled 3 hour & 45 minutes to Fort Worth from my home base, I woke up early, which I’m typically not a morning person, but when I have things to do, especially beautiful sessions, I’m a morning person. I made sure to have my morning coffee & everything was packed & ready to go the day before! I was able to watch the sunrise, listen to good music, & drive all throughout Texas with not many other people on the road. Once I arrived in Fort Worth I got a coffee & breakfast taco, this is very texan of me, & then headed to the Studio, which was The Lumen Room in Panther Island of Fort Worth, Texas. This area is truly so cute & one of those spots of Dallas/Fort Worth area that I wouldn’t mind living in. This space was beautiful, especially in the crisp morning light, it’s truly just the most perfect light in a studio, chef’s kiss! I set up the speaker & waited for Meg to arrive, once she got there, she transformed into the bride she would soon be! Then the photo shoot began, I had looked at some inspiration on Pinterest of editorial bridal shoots, & put my own twist on it, mixed in with what Meg had requested! Her sister was supporting her the whole time, hyping her up & helping her look picture perfect, just sweet moments like that make my heart so happy!! It was such a great morning & the session truly just flew by & turned out to be one of my favorite sessions of the Summer.
