Laura & Todd's Spring Engagement Session in Cypress, Texas.

Finally sharing another sweet engagement session on the blog! This Spring I have been traveling a ton back & fourth from Flatonia, Texas to Houston, Texas. I had a few months of constant traveling, however now that I’m on the other side of things I’m finally able to have more time to share them with y’all! Earlier this May on one of these Houston trips I photographed Laura & Todd’s Engagement Session. We had been planning this day for a few months & am so happy everything worked out for our session.

The last few hours before our session even started the Houston weather flipped on us & we were all hoping, praying, & stressing up until the start of our session time. Despite the weather stress we had, we started our session off at Brew 30 in Cypress, which is a Brewery Tap House & these two drank a beer, took photos, attempted to play darts, & headed out to their Wedding Venue just down the road.

The Reserve on Cypress Creek is a beautiful, peaceful, in the middle of the forest venue. This is where we spent time taking their Save the Date photo & these two decided to add in their pups for a few photos! To end off our session we went to the Bridgeland Treehouse Park which is such a unique spot for photos & was so fun to do! Plus, they ended with a stunning champagne pop! I love when couples decide to do this, it’s such a fun little way to celebrate y’all!

Also, bring your pups with you to your session! These are always the cutest family photos to have, even if your fur babies can be a little chaotic, I don’t mind it at all! Bring all their favorite treats & their favorite leash.

What is a bridal session & how it can help you on wedding day!

What is a Bridal Portrait Session?

Well, if you’re engaged & planning a wedding, this is typically more popular among traditional weddings, then you might want to consider hiring your wedding photographer & planning a solo portrait session of you in all your Bridal glory! Most brides will use their wedding venue as the location, however if you have a specific envision & theme for your bridal session then go for it!

Why should I book a Bridal Portrait Session?

This is the time to test out your wedding vendors before wedding day! Try out a wedding hairstyle & makeup you have in mind & see if it’s how you want to look on your wedding day with the vendor you have in mind. Get a mock bouquet from your wedding florist. Be able to put on & wear your wedding dress & veil. Work with your venue beforehand, some wedding venues will offer free photo session time on the property. And, you'll be able to work with your wedding photographer, this is amazing! Not only does this allow time for you to open up with your photographer, but can be an important factor when having a stranger photograph you on wedding day!

How will this reduce my wedding stress?

On a normal traditional wedding days, you have a set timeline of all the moments that make up your wedding day, so staying on schedule is important, but it’s not the biggest thing in the world. If you are feeling nervous about having more than enough time for your solo bridal portraits on top of everything else you want captured, then having a bridal portrait session can definitely benefit you when it comes to your wedding day! Plus, you’ll be able to get dolled up & wear your wedding day one more time, besides on your wedding day!

What if I do my Bridal Session after the wedding day?

This is something you can do & is more practical if you want to try to do it on wedding day! Just know on wedding day you probably won’t be able to have as much time to yourself for solo portraits than you might want or think. This will also depend on how many hours of coverage you have your photographer for & what all is planned on wedding day! I highly recommend asking your wedding photographer the logistics for capturing these photos on wedding day or if you’d like a solo bridal session!

Are veils in or out? What trends are in & out for Fall 2023 weddings

As we enter into the next season, this only means all the Fall & Winter brides are wedding planning & i’m here throwing in my opinions & ideas! Are wedding veils in or out? What other wedding trends are in & out? What’s cool & does it actually matter? No it doesn’t trends come & go & all I could ever ask of my couples is to do whatever they want on their wedding day!

So do I think wedding veils are out? Never!! They are timeless & hold great value, meaning, & can complete the true essence of a bride. However if you aren’t planning to do things traditionally or happen to not hold those values close, then don’t feel obligated to do them! Plus, you can have a wedding veil for only part of your wedding day, if you don’t to worry about having to carry or worry about another thing on wedding day!

IN: Colorful wedding days have been becoming a bigger trend within the last year & these are some of my favorites! I love when couples use a colorful palette for their wedding day! From florals, to the table scape, even different colored bridesmaids dresses, this is a vibe I hope more couples decide to do!

IN: Simple Wedding Cakes! I think this is by far the way to go on wedding day! You tend to see the more simple & minimal wedding cakes at elopements & this has definitely become a wedding trend at traditional weddings. Having the “Just Married” written across your cake is so effortless cool & easy! Sometimes the prices of wedding cakes can be crazy to see as a first time bride & if that’s not something you thought would break the bank, then go for something more simple! Order a cake just for y’all to cut as newlyweds & then have a sheet cake or a dessert table for your guests to munch on!

IN: Embroidered Details! This has been on Pinterest like crazy & I have been drooling over it & patiently waiting for a couple of mine to do! This has become a newer trend, but those having an embroidered veil with your soon to be last name, “to have & to hold”, “till death do us part”, your wedding date, the options are truly endless! Also, I love when brides have wedding gloves & even having some details on those are just chef’s kiss & so elegant! This is a great trend for all the brides wanting a timeless!

IN: Changing at your wedding! This isn’t just for the brides, & can also be for groom’s or whoever wants to do a switch in outfits! I absolutely love this idea & think this is so fun especially if you see another outfit & want to include it in your wedding day! This could be your dancing all night & grand exit outfit! Or if y’all are wanting to go out comfy, then get matching sweat suits!

OUT: What really is out? Letting other people tell you how you should do your wedding day! I do think wedding trends come & go, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do them, I truly believe if it’s something you love & are absolutely obsessed with, then that should be a part of your wedding day! Because guess what? It’s your wedding day, not there’s.
